About this ETF

The Vanguard Total Inflation-Protected Securities ETF (VTP) endeavors to mirror the performance of a comprehensive index encompassing all U.S. Treasury inflation-protected obligations. It is specifically designed for long-term investors who seek returns that closely correlate with actual, realized inflation. Due to its longer average maturity, this fund carries an increased exposure to real interest rate risk. However, this extended duration also positions it to potentially deliver higher total returns when compared to TIPS funds with shorter maturities. VTP invests in debt instruments backed by the full faith and credit of the federal government, where the principal value is adjusted every six months in response to inflation. This mechanism offers a vital safeguard against unexpected increases in inflation, helping to preserve purchasing power.

Guided help: AUM is fund size. The expense ratio is the yearly cost baked into returns. NAV is the value of what the fund owns per share; the market price can sit slightly above (premium) or below (discount) it. Total return assumes distributions were reinvested. Every dataset shows its own as-of date because holdings, assets and quotes update on different schedules.
